Diary of a Mad Hatter
The hat design I have chosen to display on my ePortfolio is one of the buckram variety. This buckram fascinator is completely covered in fabric and moss. I wanted to do a hat that was outside the box, thus this forest inspired “horny hat” was born.
I chose to display this hat because, although all the hats I made this semester were unexpectedly delightful, this one was the most unusual.
I learned that, although sometimes I get down on myself for not being a good painter or artist of other traditional means, I am very creative and can use my creativity and talent in other ways. Wearable art is the best way to showcase your talents. I will have to find an occasion to wear this hat and shock the masses.
I would love to be a milliner in the future. It would be a trying career, as sometimes the materials you use don’t work the way you assume they will, but it would be fun nonetheless. After taking this course I will continue to be inspired by the world and make hats that confuse and titillate.
